THE SHOW MUST GO ON
Before a theater is closed for the evening, all lights are extinguished except for a single, exposed incandescent bulb left on stage, called a ghost light. It shines overnight, day after day, year after year, in between performances. American Timescapes is an in-progress photo-based project that considers the American experience across time through a theater metaphor. Faceless portraits reference enduring American archetypes, and quintessential American landscapes are reimagined as staged sets with cuts in time. Years flow by, characters come and go, and the American story continues to unfold.
